Members

  • Greta Moody I have an interest in all Hodge/Hodges lines. My brick wall is my direct maternal 5th great grandmother: Catherine (Hodges) Williams. I am especially interested in researching Hodge(s) from: Georgia, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
  • Deborah Talbot My interest in the Hodge family is through my paternal 2x GGF Ralph Hodge of Wendron, Cornwall; and through my maternal 5x GGF William Hodge of Wendron, Cornwall. I am trying to see if there is a common connection between these two families.
  • Kevin Ireland My Hodges ancestors migrated from VA to Hart Co KY to Macoupin Co IL. We have gaps in our line, but believe we descend from Thomas Hodges (abt.1750-1808) and his wife Susannah (Bomar) Hodges (1762-aft.1808). I focus on AncestryDNA and Y-DNA research to try to confirm Hodges limes of descent.
  • Adrian Hodge My interest is the Hodge family of South Devon, England. Brick wall Henry Hodge, cordwainer of Brixham, Devon, who died 1832. I have robust documentary and autosomal dna of his descendants, but no definite birth/baptism record.
  • Bruce Mixon My second great grandmother Frances Hodges (abt. 1868-1938) was a Hodges who married a Mixon and I have heard this surname many times in my life. Her father Foreman Hodges (1837-1904) also founded my families native town of Hodgesville, Alabama.
  • John Hodges My grandfather's brother did extensive genealogical research in the 1960s and 70s. He organized his notes and passed them along to several relatives. I've input much of that data to wikitree, and now hope to get beyond the last link, Thomas Hodges I (abt.1620-bef.1698), who apparently came to the US, Virginia, in 1634 from Scotland.

Sticker

This is the sticker to place on profiles of Hodge and Hodges we are studying. Any Hodge or Hodges can be added that you want us to study.

{{One Name Study|name=Hodges}}

Hodge/Hodges Tag

The Hodge and/or Hodges tag should be in your list of tags, if you're a member of this Study.

Goals

This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Task List

1.) Encourage people to join this study and have them to add the badge and the category to their profile. Add the Hodge and/or Hodges tag to a list of your followed tags. Add yourself under the "Members" area.

2.) Add profiles of ancestors or people you want to study. They don't have to be ancestors. If you are wanting to study them, that's fine. Add the Sticker to ancestors or people you want to study.

3.) Start working on Hodge and Hodges profiles by updating the biography and other sections of the profile. Be sure to add sources to all profiles.

Hello Greta. I have a whole Hodges family line from the MA area... back through 1700's ... also, have a Hodges Family bible from the same and it contains birth/marriage/death data in a beautiful script. Would like to be able to share what I know - but, need a bit of assistance with how to join the One_Name group and contribute. New to much of this so will require a bit of patience. Amities, Roger

Hi Roger! To join the study, add your name by using four ~ under the "Members" section. To contribute, check and see if your Hodges ancestors are already on WikiTree or not. If not, create their profiles and add sources to them. You are welcome to work on Hodges not in your family too if you wish.

Both my father's name and my mother's maiden name is Hodges. Both were from Georgia and both have North Carolina roots (pre Rev. War). They thought the families must have been connected somewhere long ago, but I've discovered through a DNA test that it's two different families.

Hi Tom! This is very interesting. You should consider joining the study.

Tom, thanks for taking a Y-DNA test. It looks like you have quite a few matches; have you been able to work together with some of them to identify your most recent common ancestors?

I was hoping you might be part of my NC Hodges line, but we're in a different lineage.
